1)with all the progress in the media today, is there a difference bettween how movies are being made today-from the past.from the actor point of view? does it of requires from the actor different methods, or technics of acting? Does the new technique have a different expression on the actor?
Most films are made as they used to be - actors photographed by a camera. For big-budget action movies like "X-Men" and "Lord of the Rings" the latest technology intervenes, achieving effects that live actors could not manage by themselves. So I welcome it.
> >2)From all the characters you've portrayed, which one was your favourite? >and which one do you most identify yourself with? My favorite part is inevitably the one I am currently playing: so Gandalf.
> >3)Gods & Monsters was a wonderful movie, and very nostalgic to the past of >the hero, and to movies from the past. Do you ever feel nostalgic to the glorious past of the cinema and the movies? I am nostalgic about the history of live theatre, particularly in the United Kingdom. As for cinema, I feel a relative newcomer.
> >4)I've noticed that you've acted in many 'Shakespeare' movies, and soon >you'll take part in three 'Tolkin' movies. > I wanted to know, which one of them do you prefer reading? I rarely read Shakespeare these days, unless I am preparing to act in one of his plays. "Lord of the Rings" is a great read.
> >5) Sir McKellen, I know it have nothing to do with movies, but I've always >been interested to know - Have you ever visited Israel? I performed my old solo show "Acting Shakespeare" in Jerusalem, Haifa and Tel Aviv in 1979.
best wishes ian mckellen
