Gail Desperately Needs All the Help We Can Give: We only have until August 20thLets Help Keep Gail Alive & Healthy !!!Gail is a former South African tennis pro/instructor who made aliya about 12 years ago. She now lives in the area of Tzufim / Tzur Yigal. Shes been a lifelong lover and supporter of cats, having spent a great deal of her time, energy and her own money to sterilize and treat thousands of needy cats. On a daily basis, and despite her recently-diagnosed cancer and the necessary treatment, she also continues to care for approximately 50 cats in her home who have been abused or had serious health issues, as well as feeding and providing water to five cat colonies numbering approximately 200 cats, some in difficult, out-of-the-way terrain. Disregarding snakes, lack of overhead shelter from rain or beating sun, Gail is there for these feral colonies, feeding, pilling, and sterilizing.Gail has had to move on 6 separate occasions within 12 years due to outrageous rent increases, and each time shes had to limit her search and selection of a new residence in order to be able to have access to the outdoor cats who depend upon her for their existence. For Gail, abandoning those animals has never been and never will be an option, considering that without the food and water she carries up to them they will definitely not be able to survive.Along the way she was physically attacked, beaten up by a neighbor and thrown on spikes, which damaged her tennis arm. The police did nothing, and Gail didnt pursue this further as she had reason to fear that this neighbor might some day come and kill her colonies in revenge.Over the past several years, her health has suffered and deteriorated, preventing her from either teaching tennis or performing any other well-paying jobs. Nonetheless, Gail persevered and obtained whatever types of work she could find - cleaning houses, working as a veterinary assistant, and staying up - sometimes as many as 6 nights a week - doing handmade arts and crafts which she could sell in order to maintain a home for her and her many cats, and of course to pay for food, medicine, and veterinary bills for all the cats in her care. Throughout, she continued to labor selflessly to fund her animal calling, and she was always within reach by phone, to those who needed animal advice and consultation. She also regularly made herself and her old beat up car available to others who needed help caring for or transporting their sick or injured animals. Gail has been doing all this for years and has never needed or sought out support or charity from others. But recently she has had a substantial run of bad luck.
